About Us - History

(a) Pre-Independence. Tithwal was a flourishing Tehsil. It subsequently went into obscurity due to its remoteness. It is perhaps one of the western most hamlets along the Line of Control. Battles of Tithwal and adjoining areas are deeply sketched in the memoirs of military history.

(b) In 2005, Tithwal village was in the news, as it was devastated by the killer earthquake. Loss of kith and kin, shattered houses, severing of amenities had pushed each inhabitant to the limits of psychological and physical strain. It was then, that the Army with utter disregard to its own losses carried out lifesaving rescue and relief ops and gave courage to the people to put shattered pieces together to start life anew. Today, Army’s adopted Model Village of Tithwal stands as a monument of resurrection, resilience, hope and will to live. AGS is one of the premium addn to its enviable array of social infrastructure facilities.

(c) AGS, Tithwal was constricted under Sadbhavana IX at a cost of Rs 59,01,150/- and was completed in October 2007. The school started functioning from 01 December 2007 with 63 children in attendance.

(d) The aim of the project was to provide quality edn to the children belonging to the remote vill of Tithwal region incl, Simari, Khakar, Kathban, Chilyan, Dringla, Beari, Gundi Shat and Draggar with a population of approx 3000.

2. Land Details. The school Building is constructed on State Govt land in Village Tithwal, Karnah Tehsil.
